As we close out Black History Month and look ahead to Women’s History Month, I am celebrating how 2022 NWSL champ and league MVP Sophia Smith made one of the biggest splashes last year, becoming the first Black woman to ever win U.S. Soccer Player of the Year by leading both club and country in goals.
